Overview
Pilot does not differentiate between administrative and technician users. If a user has shifts (that determined capacity) and workstations they're assigned to, production steps will be assignable to that user.
Setup
Notes:
All users have a username and password to log in, unless you're using SSO
All users have first and last name
A user must have at least 1 role.
To create a user, navigate to Admin -> Users.
Roles
Roles are templatized permissions. You can create as many roles as you want and set the permission levels accordingly. You can also assign multiple roles per a user in the "most-permissive-permission-wins" if two permissions from different roles have different access levels.
Shifts
You can create one shift per day, with start/end times and the break duration. The capacity is a number of minutes that a technician has per day. We will take the end time, subtract start time and break duration from it, to get the daily capacity.
Example:
John Doe works on Mondays from 9AM to 5PM with a 30-minute break. There are 8 hours, or 480 minutes, of shift time, minus 30 minutes of break. The total Monday capacity for John is 450. If John is, say, a designer, and crown design task duration is set to 15 minutes, John is theoretically capable of completing 450 / 15 = 30 design tasks.
Pilot also has a concept of a capacity multiplier. This is useful for situations where a person is capable of completing steps faster or slower than the set production step time.
Examples:
Victor works the same schedule as John, but he's a seasoned technician and can design crowns in 10 minutes. That means he can complete 450 / 10 = 45 crown design tasks per day. Victor designs 45 / 30 = 1.5 more crowns than average design time. His capacity multiplier should be set to 1.5
Mykyta just started his designer journey – it takes him 30 minutes to design a crown. Mykyta works the same schedule as Victor, so he can theoretically design only 450 / 30 = 15 crowns per day. That is 15 / 30 = 0.5 fewer crowns than average designer can push out. His capacity multiplier should be set to 0.5.
Besides shifts, technicians must have at least 1 workstation they're assigned to for determining the production steps that can be assigned to them.
